You should buy it if you like those games. For a small budget game, they did a tremendous work. Chapter 8 shouldn't have existed, it has no content to speak of. I found chapter 7 to be very confusing in terms of sens of direction. But the game tells you just enough and you have to find it out.

There is no tutorial and it's sometimes weird on that end. I felt it was missing some animations there too. There are some glitches with control, especially with jumping. I played the game with a controller without rumble. There is a very nice orchestral music in the background, center around a piano. I particularly like all the lighting effects.

The graphics are really good except that you get a lot of draws in. The story is silent an more symbolic then anything. The story is silent an more symbolic then Spirit of the North is a relaxing game with a lot of exploration. Spirit of the North is a relaxing game with a lot of exploration.

8/10, would strongly recommend checking it out. Beautiful game with an evocative soundtrack and great story, but with a few aspects that could have used more attention in development. Due to the controls being a semi-major part of a game like this, I gave this game an 8/10 instead of a 9/10. However, other than the controls these issues didn't have too much of an impact on the game and the rest of the game offers enough value for me to overlook them. The puzzles, while mildly challenging overall with varying degrees of difficulty throughout the game, didn't require the same level of thinking as might be expected of a game like this. In addition, the abilities given to the player are not needed as much as they could have been which makes them feel a bit more like gimmicks than abilities. It didn't make the game unplayable, but it definitely made it more tedious in places. I played this on a controller so I can't say how the game handles on a mouse and keyboard, but the controls are a bit clunky and hamper the experience in some areas. Now we get to the less polished aspects of the game, starting with the controls. Visuals look great, which drew me into the story and gave a sense of scale to the game. It emphasized the exploration and the more somber parts of the game really well. Next is the soundtrack, which I found amazing. The story is beautifully crafted as well and has symbolic value. I was completely immersed in the game for the entire time I played it, and though there is no narration or speaking whatsoever the game gets the tone and plot across to the player. First up is atmosphere, and this game nails it. I'll start with the good things about the game. It took me about 5 hours to get through the game, and I enjoyed myself 90% of the time.
